New York City ING Marathon 2011
On November 6 I will be running the New York City ING Marathon for the fourth time and will be running to raise funds for pediatric
cancer research with Fred's Team, an organization which has been raising money for pediatric cancer research since 1992. In my previous
two marathons I have raised over $14,000 and am trying to reach my goal of $10,000 in 2011.
Many of you knew Katy Stewart who lost
her battle with cancer at the age of 12 less than a year ago. All of the funds I raise for the 2011 marathon will be donated to Fred's
Team in her name.
While I was not lucky enough to know Katy personally her story touched my heart and I intend to work tirelessly to
raise as much money for this research as possible as a way to honor her memory and the bravery with which she and her family fought.
I am proud to join the many others in our community who have raised money for cancer research for Katy.
Unfortunately most of us are
too familiar with cancer. I lost my mother Harriet to cancer in 1998. I have run my first three NYC marathons in her memory. Now I
will also be running for my dad, Bob, who died from cancer just two weeks ago. Neither of them will be forgotten as I cross
the finish line this year.
I have already surpassed $5,000 raised and need your help to reach my goal. I ask that you give any amount
that you are able, even $5 or $10 is greatly appreciated. Every dollar adds up and brings us a step closer to finding lifesaving treatments
for pediatric cancer.
Please visit my Fred's Team page to donate online, print a donation form or learn more about the organization.
you for all of your support.
